In 2023, Cretex Medical | Quality Tech Services (QTS) embarked on a remarkable journey of transformation with the completion of a comprehensive remodel of its Bloomington and Shakopee, MN facilities. This significant investment of time and resources aimed to better position the company for future success, all while remaining true to Cretex’s core values. Commencing in March 2023 and completing in December 2023, the construction project faced an aggressive timeline. Despite the challenges posed by new locations, processes and construction noise, QTS proceeded with production and continues to deliver on promises to customers.
Quality Upgrade:
The renovation focused on upgrading technology, expanding clean room space and creating a more efficient layout to ensure an unwavering commitment to quality. The new design capitalizes on vertical space and reorganizes the layout, providing increased capacity and fostering innovation. Cleanroom space and Final Assembly space saw remarkable increases of 41% and 42% respectively. The investment in these areas guarantees that as the company grows, there will be no compromise on the high standards set by Cretex Medical.
Enhanced Customer Experience:
With expanded capacity, QTS is now better equipped to meet the increased demand from customers. The redesign not only facilitates efficient production but also enhances the overall customer experience. Visitors can now easily tour the facility, understand processes and appreciate the competitive advantage that QTS holds in the marketplace.
Operational Excellence:
The renovation project aimed at more effectively allocating space, resulting in increased capacity and improved ergonomic environments for employees. Renovated bathrooms, upgraded offices, a new entrance and lockers were strategically designed to enhance the overall employee experience and satisfaction. The addition of a dedicated Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Room, a shared Engineering Lab space, a new Wet Lab space and a third Cleaning/Passivation Room demonstrates QTS’s commitment to operational excellence.

The success of the project is underscored by several key metrics including:
1. Zero Safety Issues: Despite tight quarters and timelines, the project maintained an impeccable safety record with no injuries reported.
2. On Time: Construction was completed on the target date of December 15, 2023.
3. On Budget: The project was completed within the projected renovation budget, even with unexpected issues and additional deliverables.
4. Increased Square Footage: QTS increased its usable space by an impressive 2,414 square feet without expanding its footprint.
